Jigra Collection Day 5: Film Tanks At Box Office Despite Star Power, But Alia Bhatt Wins Hearts With Performance

The film’s affected business is also due to Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Who Waha Video, which was released on the same date as Jigra.

Jigra Box office Collection Day 5: Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina’s Jigra has been at the eye of storm much before its release and this seems to have affected film’s business as well. The film, which opened on a disappointing note and collected mere Rs 4.55 crore on day 1, hardly showed any improvement in the following days. On day 5, the collection was approximately Rs 1.6 crore, taking the overall figures to 19.85 crore as per Sacnilk.

On day 2 and 3, which was a weekend, the film struggled to even get the theatres full. With a below average occupancy rate, Vasan Bala’s Jigra collected Rs  6.55 crore on Saturday and 5.5 crore on Sunday, which was also the lowest collection by an Alia Bhatt film in several years. On Monday, there was a dip of 70 per cent and the film made merely Rs 1.65 crore

The film’s affected business is also due to Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Who Waha Video.  Made on a budget lesser than that of Jigra’s, Vicky Vidya Ka Who Waha Video quashed Alia Bhatt’s star power on the first day itself.

Amid the disappointing business, it seems like Alia Bhatt has managed to impress people who went to watch the film – even though the number is very less. Ironically, people who saw the film believes it deserves to be appreciated.

“What a beautiful beautiful film.. if you have a sibling, it’s going to hit you way harder, please carry tissue box with you 🥺 Alia and Vedang’s sibling bond is the highlight for me,” commented one person. Several others talked about Alia Bhatt’s exceptional acting skills and hard work that she has put into her character. “Watched #Jigra today. @aliaa08 no is better than you nor anyone will ever be. If you haven’t watched it yet you don’t know what you’re missing out on.  The movie is sheer perfection,” wrote another.

About Jigra

Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra highlights the bond between siblings through the story of Satya and Ankur (played by Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina). After Ankur gets convicted and given a death sentence, Satya makes it her life’s only mission to safeguard her brother. She goes to a foreign land to free Ankur from the jail and bring him back home.

The film, however, got embroiled in controversy after Divya Khosla openly accused makers of showing fake numbers and declaring the film a hit. Her post read, “Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty … all theaters going empty every where. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai.. khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent. #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra.”
