New Delhi: Vijay Deverakonda’s Bollywood debut Liger hits the big screens todays. The also also stars Ananya Panday and has been directed by Puri Jagannadh. Even Mike Tyson has made a cameo in this sports-action drama.

Now as the movie received a mixed response from the netizens, an interesting fact came to the surface. It is said that, not Vijay but Mahesh Babu was the first choice of Puri Jagannadh for the film Liger.

According to reports, Puri Jagannadh earlier planned Liger with Mahesh Babu in 2016 but due to some creative differences it didn’t happen. Similarly, Jagannadh’s next Jana Gana Mana with Vijay Deverakonda was first offered to Mahesh Babu.

For unversed, Mahesh and Puri Jagannadh have delivered one of the biggest blockbusters of the Tollywood film industry in 2006 with Pokiri, which changed their respective careers for the good.

Later, the actor-director duo again collaborated for the 2012 action crime movie Business Man, and it also became a blockbuster at the theatres.

Coming to Liger, even after much expectations and hype, Liger failed to perform well at the box office. The storyline, music and performances have immensely lacked and audiences have declared it as a flop.

Liger sees Vijay as a Kickboxer with a speech defect. Ananya plays the female lead. The film also features Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy play prominent roles. Liger is being produced by Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions in association with Puri Connects.

Well, the film faced much backlashes ahead of its release. Netizens are upset with Vijay’s support for Aamir Khan because, in a recent conversation, the south strait was asked about the latest boycott trend in Bollywood, and the biggest victim of it was Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha.
