Aamir Khan has addressed the recent rumors surrounding his upcoming project with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Contrary to viral screenshots and social media speculation suggesting otherwise, the actor clarified that the film is very much on and is not related to his cameo in Coolie. Aamir emphasized that fake claims like these can damage films and professional relationships, while expressing his admiration for Rajinikanth and his work in Coolie.
Aamir, once and for all, are you doing the film Lokesh Kanagaraj?
Of course I am! Why do you ask?
You are quoted in a viral screenshot on X (Twitter) saying Coolie was a mistake and badly made?
What? What nonsense is this? I’ve never said anything like this? You know me for forty years. Am I the kind of person to make such cheap statements?
No, absolutely not, in fact the screenshot looks fake?
But such things damage films, relationships. Fake videos must stop. I have the highest regards for Rajini Sir. I did Coolie for my love of him. I didn’t charge any money for it. Working with him was all the remuneration I needed.
So is the sequel to Coolie with you happening in spite of Coolie bombing?
Arrey, but I was never supposed to do the sequel to Coolie! I am doing a completely separate film with Lokesh Kanagaraj. It is not a sequel to Coolie at all. I am not aware Rajnikanthji’s film has fully bombed. I believe it did five or six hundred crores. So I’ve been reading in the papers.
But your film with Lokesh is on?
Yeah, yeah, very much so.
And you would be playing the character whom we saw at the end of Coolie?
No, no, no, it’s an entirely different script. It’s an action film, yeah. We start next year.
