The Saiyaara girl is going places. Aneet Padda is the new ‘IT’ girl in Tinsel Town. After scoring a clean sixer with her debut in Saiyaara, Aneet has been signed by Maddock Films to play the lead in their first Supergirl franchise.
Entitled Shakti Shalini, the fresh Franchise promises to upturn the current masculine bias in the Indian cinema’s superhero universe. According to sources, Aneet will be paid Rs 12 crores for her presence in the superhero(ine) franchise, as compared with the estimated Rs 1.5 crores she got for Saiyaara.
The announcement will be officially made by the production house Maddock in their Diwali release Thamma, which opens on October 21.
Curiously, Maddock had issued a denial when the news of Aneet’s entry into the production house’s superhero universe was first announced. Apparently, the actress’ remuneration was under negotiation.
Interestingly, Kalyani Priyadarshan recently made a widespread impact with her superhero act in the Malayalam film, Lokah. However, she won’t star in the next instalment of the franchise. Tovino Thomas will.
In no time at all, Aneet Padda has become Bollywood’s ‘It’ girl. An old video of the Saiyaara actress Aneet Padda, before her stardom, recently went viral. It is intended to hurt the young actress’s newfound success, and it just goes to show what lengths the spoilsports are willing to go to for the sake of celebrity bashing.
In the video, Aneet WAS seen singing and dancing to the Urdu prayer ‘Lab Pe Aati Hai Dua’.
Trolls had pounced on Aneet’s video and accused her of hurting Islamic sentiments. The young girl, who had no idea what she was getting into when she recorded the video with a friend long before she became famous, was said to be bewildered by the turn of events.
A friend of the actress who doesn’t want to be named on account of the “religious sensitivity” of the matter says Aneet is terrified. “Nowadays, one never knows what will be dug out from the past and used to shame and scare. Have a heart! Aneet is just a child. Let her enjoy her success.”
