One of the most popular crime-thriller web series on Amazon Prime, Mirzapur is back with its third season. With a plot set in the background of the Mirzapur district in eastern UP, also known as Purvanchal, this web series was one of its kind when its first season was released in 2018 starring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu, Vikrant Massey and others.
Is it based on a novel?
Since its inception, there have been speculations about this series being inspired by a novel. Many netizens and Mirzapur fans have Googled to know if this super-dramatic series is based on some novelist’s creation. Quora too has been flooded with such questions and many have taken Tarun Tejpal’s novel ‘Story of My Assassins’ for the inspiration behind this web series.
Here’s the truth
Well, the answer to all such questions is Karan Anshuman who along with Puneet and Vineet Krishna wrote the first series. Tejpal’s novel was however used as an inspiration for another crime-thriller ‘Pataal Lok’, released on Amazon Prime Video in 2020.
Crafted by the fine hands of Gurmmeet Singh, Mihir Desai, Karan Anshuman, and Anand Iyer, Mirzapur has managed to maintain the sensation in every season and has its cult fanbase. However, like every other series, it has also struggled to meet the charm of its very first season in the next two.
Disappointment…
The third one seems a little more disappointing as using violence for fillers and not for the story barely happened in the previous two seasons. The suspense with which the second season gets over is neither maintained nor satiated in the new season. The very first scene disappoints the viewers and one would find it difficult to go through the episodes. The charm of the story is killed in the very beginning, one may watch it only if one has an abundance of time and is a staunch supporter and lover of this series.
