Mumbai: The word ‘Entertainment’ is ever-evolving in its being. If we trace its history in India, we might find its beginning somewhere in the shows of puppets and theater performances.

Theatres led the way to cinema that the audiences enjoy today. Television also came into being and the rush of cinema halls decreased a bit. Then came the era of OTTs and social media which redefined the meaning of entertainment.

Speaking on the same, Mubin Tisekar, founder of The Entertainment Factory (an event and brand-building company based in India) said, “Now, audiences have started to look for content and the artists have become content-centric. They have started to deliver it through social media, events, and OTTs. As the world of content is increasing, the attention span of the audience is shrinking. They look forward to the short-duration content. Hence, standups become their go-to choice of entertainment.”

He also spoke about the growth and popularity of the new-gen artists. According to him, “In just past four years, artists like comedians, musicians, and online content creators have significantly grown in both numbers and influence. They not only make millions on OTT platforms but are earning a fortune in LIVE events and tours. This also comes from the demand for new forms of entertainment. It’s not wrong to say, the future of entertainment is here.”

When asked about The Entertainment Factory, Mr. Tisekar said, “We produce one of India’s largest format events, nurture intellectual properties, and create brands for live entertainment and special entertainment events. We are one of India’s fastest-growing entertainment enterprises.”

Further, he added, “Celebrity comics like Anubhav Singh Bassi, Abhishek Upmanyu, Harsh Gujral, Biswa Kalyan Rath, etc. are doing standups in our events. We have made our presence known in the nation through events like the Comedy Festival, Johnny Lever’s tours, Anubhav Singh Bassi, Harsh Gujral, and Sunil Grover’s tours of India.”

To mention, stand-up comedians and artists are not only entertaining people but are making millions in their own rights. They are performing in various events not only within the borders of India but also beyond. Names like Anubhav Singh Bassi, Harsh Gujral, and Abhishek Upmanyu have become well-known names these days.
