Is ‘Chakda Xpress’ In Trouble? Dibyendu Bhattacharya Reveals What’s Happening with Anushka Sharma’s Comeback Film

Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who stars alongside Anushka Sharma in Chakda Xpress, has called the long-delayed film her best performance yet. With no clarity on its release, the actor expressed frustration over the silence from Netflix and Clean Slate Filmz.

The wait for Chakda Xpress, Anushka Sharma’s much-anticipated comeback film, is beginning to test the patience of fans and even the film’s cast. Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who plays a key role in the biopic, recently opened up about the delay and his own confusion surrounding the film’s stalled release.

In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Dibyendu revealed how deeply he believes in the film’s power. “You don’t know how badly I’m waiting for the film to release because it is a fantastic film,” Dibyendu Bhattacharya told us. “I always tell people… I watched it at Prosit’s [director Prosit Roy] place. I told him, ‘It’s not releasing, but since you have it, at least show it to me.’ He said it wasn’t completely finished, not everything had been done, but I watched it and… it is such a beautiful film.”

The actor didn’t mince words when it came to praising Anushka’s performance either. “It is the best performance of Anushka Sharma to date. I don’t know why they are not releasing it. It’s a really, really fantastic film.”

When asked whether the film had been shelved or simply postponed, Dibyendu admitted he was as clueless as the audience. “I have no idea,” he said with the utmost honesty. “If I had any information about the film, I would tell you first. I really don’t know because Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other. What’s going on between the two, I have no clue.”

Beyond personal anticipation, the actor pointed to the deeper impact of such delays. “As an actor, I really want the film to see the light of day. A lot of hard work goes into making a film. From the day research begins to the final print, it’s a long and emotionally invested journey. So many people are involved. So many ambitions ride on one film. Many families run on the income generated through it – technicians, daily wage workers. It’s very sad.”

He concluded emphatically, “I want the film to release immediately, And I’m telling you – it’s a fantastic film. A brilliant film. And Anushka’s best performance till now.”

About Chakda Xpress

Chakda Xpress, which traces the inspiring journey of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, was announced in 2022 as Anushka Sharma’s return to the screen after 2018’s Zero. The film is backed by Clean Slate Filmz, run by her brother Karnesh Sharma, and was set to stream on Netflix.

However, the film’s release is stuck because Clean Slate Filmz is no longer working with Netflix. There are rumours that the production house might buy the rights back and release the film on a different platform, but so far, neither Netflix nor Clean Slate has issued an official statement.
