India’s Costliest Web Series: Budget Equivalent To Production Of Two To Three Bollywood Films

The craze for OTT platforms is rapidly increasing among people. Every day, new movies and web series are released on OTT platforms, gaining considerable viewership and appreciation. The trend of releasing Bollywood films and web series on OTT platforms has also become prevalent. Over the years, several Hindi cinema films and series have been released on different OTT platforms, receiving love from audiences.

We are here to talk about a series that has made its mark as India’s most expensive web series. Not only that, but it has a budget comparable to recent big films. This series, titled ‘Rudra: The Age of Darkness,’ was released last year in 2022 and directed by Rajesh Mapuskar.

Starring Ajay Devgn, Raashii Khanna, Esha Deol, Atul Kulkarni, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Ashish Vidyarthi, this crime, drama, and mystery-filled series are based on a psychological crime thriller, serving as the Hindi remake of the British show ‘Luther.’

The series has received a rating of 6.7 out of 10 on IMDb. Regarding its budget, it is reported to be 200 crores, competing with the budgets of recent box office releases like Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ with a budget of 85 crores, Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ with a budget of 100 crores, and Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ with a budget of 60 crores.
