Popular YouTuber Jaspreet Singh has appeared before the Assam Police in connection with a growing controversy surrounding his remarks on the reality show "India's Got Talent." Indian YouTuber and standup comedian Jaspreet Singh recently appeared before the Assam Police regarding the case filed against him and four others. They are accused of promoting obscenity on a public platform in an online show, an officer said.

Jaspreet showed up before the Investigating Officer (IO) of the Guwahati Police’s Crime Branch in the afternoon for questioning him related to the case registered on February 10. The officer said, “He was examined, and his statement was recorded by the IO.”

Earlier, on April 5, another YouTuber named Samay Raina had also presented himself before the Guwahati Police’s Crime Branch in connection with the controversial case. Currently, only Apoorva Makhija has not reported to the police yet.

The police had filed the case against the show host Samay Raina and YouTuber and Social Media influencer Ranveer Allahabadia, Ashish Chalchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija and more people involved in promoting the vulgar content online, which seriously harmed public morality.

The Crime Branch had taken the case into their consideration under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with the sections of the IT Act, Cinematograph Act 1952, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

Ranveer had also presented before the Guwahati Police on March 7 for what he was questioned for over four hours. The police remarked that Ranveer had agreed to cooperate with the Guwahati Police for the upcoming proceedings.

Supreme Court of India had also protected him from being arrested but called his comments “vulgar.” Another person accused in the case is Ashish Chachlani, who was the first one to appear before the police on February 27. He was given bail by the Guwahati High Court on February 7.

Along with these social media influencers, the owner of the location where the controversial show was shot has also been named in the police complaint, the officer said.

This time, he is criticized for being part of the most popular YouTube show India Got Latent, where he, along with others, is accused of promoting obscenity and engaging in vulgar and sexually explicit conversations during a publicly available online show. Jaspreet, a 35-year-old popular comedian, is facing strong criticism for allegedly making a ‘racist’ comment about Malayalis on the show India’s Got Latent.
