‘If the film didn’t work, the audience didn’t like it’: Ranbir Kapoor on boycott trends
New Delhi: Only a few days left for Brahmastra's release and a section of Twitter users already started a boycott call for the movie. One reason is Ranbir Kapoor's old statement about how much he likes eating beef. Well, it's not just Brahmastra, but films like Laal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandhan, Pathaan, etc fell under boycott trends.
Now in a recent media interaction, Ranbir Kapoor reacted to the Bollywood boycott trends set by the netizens. He said that the film is going to perform well only if the audience loves it. He held out Shamshera as an example of box-office failure. "I had a film release a few weeks ago, called Shamshera. I didn't feel any negativity. If the film didn't run at the box office, it's probably because the audience didn't like the film. Eventually, it's about the content,” he said.
He further added, "Agar aap achhi film do, achha content do, if people feel entertained, of course, who doesn't want to go to the movies, to the cinemas? Experience a different emotion, get moved by characters, feel an emotion, get entertained, have a great laugh, cry, and feel something. We all want to feel that. So it is only for that. Agar film nahi chalti hai, it's not because of any other reason, it has not worked because the content is not good."
Meanwhile, Brahmastra is all set to release in the theatres on September 9. Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, the film stars Ranbir, Alia, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna. The film will also see Shah Rukh Khan in a never-seen-before avatar.
The magnum opus is all set to release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
