Salman Khan Blackbuck Case: Following the assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddique, Salman Khan is allegedly the next target of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who has demanded an apology from the actor regarding his involvement in the blackbuck poaching case.
To clear the air and address the ongoing controversy, Salman’s father, Salim Khan has come out to defend his son, stating that he is innocent. “Woh mujhse jhooth nahi bolega. Usko nahi hain shaukh jaanwar maarne ka. Jaanwaro se mohabbat karta hai woh,” he told ABP in an interview.
Salim Khan further emphasised that if Salman apologises to Lawrence Bishnoi, it would imply he killed the animal, which isn’t true. “Maafi maangna ye accept karna hai ki maine maara hai. Salman ne kabhi kisi jaanwar ko nahi maara. Humne kabhi kisi coackroach ko bhi nahi maara. Hum inn cheezo mein believe hee nahi karte.”
Amid this, an old tweet by Mark Manuel, former editor of Bombay Times, has resurfaced on Twitter. In his tweet, Mark talked about his association with Salman Khan and threw light on the blackbuck case. He also revealed details about the real culprits.
According to Mark, Salman was merely trying to be a good friend to those actually responsible for the poaching incident. His tweet read, “I know who shot the black bucks but I am not telling and I am not telling because Salman Khan won’t. He is taking a bum rap for something that happened twenty years ago to which he was party but he but is not guilty of. Sometimes we do things in the heat of the moment based on our emotions more than reason or logic. That’s what Salman did. He acted in the manner he thought was best. He was not just the biggest star of the ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ cast on the hunt at Bhawad in Jodhpur that September in 1998, but also the star with the largest heart. He took the blame heroically, maybe, but unwisely. Now it has come to bite him in the pants, but that is the way he is, an absolute brave heart.”
Mark further shared about Salman’s generosity and wrote if a similar situation arises again, he would do the same. He added, “Salman is my friend, and you know that. In twenty years, he has only become more generous and large-hearted than he was before. He is man enough to take this sentence, but to carry the guilt of this charge and live with the condemnation must be eating him up. Yet, for twenty years, during the trial, in which he was accused under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 and Arms Act of 1959, we did not say a word. That leaves the person who shot the black bucks. In 20 years, this person too never said a word. Is it likely that this person will now step forward, accept responsibility, and save Salman Khan from going to jail? Question mark. No. Full stop. That happens only in Bollywood.”
Mark ended the tweet by calling Salman the only person with heroic qualities: “Ironically, though the hunters of this poaching incident were a Bollywood cast, there was only one hero among them.”
