Idli Kadai is a Tamil drama film written, directed, and co-produced by Dhanush under his home banner Wunderbar Films, in association with Dawn Pictures.
The film follows Murugan (played by Dhanush), an aspiring hotel management professional whose dreams clash with his father’s traditional roots. As Murugan’s ambitions lead him away from home, a betrayal by his mentor forces him to return and protect his family’s beloved idli shack and its legacy.
This marks Dhanush’s fourth outing as a director, and after its theatrical release earlier this month, the film is now set to make its digital debut.

Netflix announced on Friday that Idli Kadai will premiere on the platform on October 29, 2025. The film will be available to stream in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
The streamer shared the news on Instagram with a playful caption: “Get ready to have a blockbuster breakfast with Idli Kadai. Watch Idli Kadai on Netflix, out 29 October in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam,” the streamer wrote on Instagram alongside a motion poster of the film.

The film stars Dhanush, Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Sathyaraj, R. Parthiban, P. Samuthirakani, and Rajkiran. Dhanush has written, directed, and produced the movie, marking his fourth time as a director after Pa Paandi (2017), Raayan (2024), and Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (2025).
According to an estimate by Moneycontrol, Idli Kadai grossed Rs 21 crore (US$2.5 million) within the first two days of release. By October 12, its earnings had risen to Rs 45 crore (US$5.3 million). However, reports by Dinamani suggested that the film might face challenges recovering its Rs 70 crore (US$8.3 million) budget, especially with Kantara: Chapter 1 releasing around the same time.
