The Indian women’s cricket team has created history by winning the ICC Women’s World Cup trophy. India defeated South Africa by 52 runs to script a memorable chapter in cricket history. Several celebrities, including Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and more, congratulated the team on their big milestone.

Shraddha Kapoor compared this win to 1983’s historic win and wrote, “For decades, sirf parents se sunte the what 1983 felt like. Humein humara ye wala moment dene ke liye Thank you girls. This is for generations.”

Coming back to the final match, South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl. India made a total of 298 runs, giving tough fight to South Africa.
The middle and lower order, led by Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh, capitalized on the platform set by Shafali. Deepti’s calm yet aggressive strokeplay helped India surge past the 290-run mark, ensuring a total that would be remembered for years to come.
India’s innings was powered by a blistering performance from Shafali Verma, who ended her three-year streak of falling short in major finals. Shafali raced to a half-century in just 49 balls, providing India with a flying start and laying the foundation for a big total.
In the end, India’s bowlers held their nerve, restricting South Africa and sealing a 52-run victory, bringing home the first Women’s World Cup title in a historic final at home.
