Over the years, Bhool Bhulaiyaa has become one of the most popular franchises in Indian cinema, with the third installment featuring Kartik Aaryan slated for release this month. Priyadarshan directed the first part, while Anees Bazmee took charge of the second and upcoming third installments. Despite fans appreciating the subsequent film and eagerly awaiting the next chapter, the original starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, and Shiney Ahuja remains etched in their hearts. The combination of Priyadarshan’s direction and Akshay Kumar’s performance is still revered as unbeatable. However, in a shocking revelation, Priyadarshan shared with Times Now that he has completely moved on and would not like to revisit the franchise.

“Bhool Bhulaiyaa obviously had longer legs. It is still being celebrated while I have moved on. In Bhool Bhulaiyaa we were experimenting with the horror-comedy mix. Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and my terrific cast got into the merger mood. We had fun shooting Bhool Bhulaiyaa. But that was it. I wouldn’t like to return to Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” he told the news publication. It is interesting to note here that Bhool Bhulaiyaa has completed 17 years today. It was released on October 12, 2007.

The ace filmmaker also went on to share that despite it being one of his most celebrated work, he does not find it to be his best. “I can’t say Bhool Bhulaiyaa is one of my personal favourites. But it was a big success, and Akshay and I are doing another horror comedy now. But you won’t see any signs of Bhool Bhulaiyaa in it, rest assured.”

Priyadarshan reuniting with Akshay Kumar

Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar have worked together in several hit films such as Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and De Dana Dan. And the popular duo is now reuniting after a long hiatus for the upcoming film Bhoot Bangla. The announcement and first poster were recently shared by the team and the film’s shoot will begin soon. Though it’s expected to release next year, no release date has been announced. The announcement has left people highly excited, as they will once again see the director-actor duo recreating the magic they’re best known for.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 set for release

Meanwhile, Anees Bazmee’s directorial venture Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is all set for its release on November 1, coinciding with Diwali. The film features Kartik Aaryan, Tripti Dimri, along with Vidya Balan reprising her iconic role as Manjulika. Interestingly, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will clash with Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again at the box office. It will be fascinating to see which film captures the audience’s attention and garners more views on its opening day.
