UP65: Today (June 8, 2023) at JioCinema, the comedy-drama series UP65 directed by Gaganjeet Singh. This series stars several new and skilled performers including Shine Pandey, Pritam Jaiswal, Abbas Ali Ghaznavi, Jay Thakar, Pragati Mishra, Ria Nalavade, and Anmol Jyotir.

Now, in an exclusive interview with news24online.com, UP65 fame Pragati Mishra aka Shubra talked about her character and shared how she can relate this series to her life.

1- Let’s start with every basic question, can you brief us about your role in the web series?

“My character in the show is called Shubra. She is also a student at this fictitious college. And as you know that the show is based on the bestselling novel called UP65. I play Shubra from the novel who is the sole guide for Nishant in the story. So they fall in love. She’s the reason he kind of discovers himself and also herself throughout the journey.

She further added, “As for her as an individual, when I received the character sketch for the show, she’s described as a breath of fresh air. And I think that truly defines her. She’s a very smart girl who has a voice of her own and knows what she wants in life. She’s also a very confident. But at the same time, she has a lot of fun. She’s a prankster and very naughty and that’s a USP. She’s thoroughly entertaining, who is born and raised in Banaras. And it was so much fun to play her.”

2- Can you relate this series to your life?

“So I actually studied media and mass communication and I majored in advertising. So I think my life was very different from anyone’s life who goes to an IIT. But everyone’s college life is very relatable, I think. All of us are very young at that point and we’re all trying to discover who we are. We’re all having new experiences, making new friends, trying new things, falling in love for the first time and just accepting life the way it comes and trying to deal with it. So I think on so many levels, it was very relatable. But on so many levels, it was also very new and refreshing. And for me to experience that, for me to experience Banaras was very exciting and very enriching.”

3- As you know, many films and series are already based on this content, so how is it different from others?

“So I actually think this is a very unique and original story because it is based on this book called UP65, which is the story of Nikhil Sachin Sir’s own life, how he went to the college and he discovered himself through all of these experiences, through this woman that he fell in love with immensely and how that shaped him as a person. So I think what the show is also trying to talk about is when you go to these really fine institutes, of course, there’s a lot of pressure to study and become the person you want in your career.”

“But it also is about discovering who you are as a human being and experiencing new things in life, making friends and just living your life to the fullest. And it’s a sitcom. So it’s comedy and very entertaining. But I think it’s very, very original and individualistic because the writer of the book and the writer of the show is the same. So it’s his own voice and it’s just brilliant,” she added.

4- As you know the series is based on students and their struggle with careers, so any life lessons you have learned from this series?

“Definitely. I think growing up, I’ve switched my career options so many times and I have questioned my purpose in life and my intent in life. And anyone who’s studying in college goes through that. Really, I think that’s the period when you really become who you want to become and you really explore yourself and you really add layers to your own character. So I think through this show, I got to learn a lot about how different people have experienced their own college life. And that added on so much more to my personality. And it made me have so much fun. So yeah, it was a very fulfilling experience in that sense.”

5- Any upcoming projects would you like to share?

“I have actually done another show which is called 4×4. It’s produced by Ishika Films and it’s directed by Victor Mukherjee. I play the lead opposite Anshuman Jha in the show and it’s an eight episodic web show. I’m not sure as to when it will release, but we shot it in Arunachal Pradesh and I’m very, very proud of that show. I play a journalist, a travel journalist called Maithili in the show. And I think that shows all heart.”
