Teja Sajja, whose Mirai has opened to a huge ovation, is already on to his next project. “It is the sequel to my Zombie Reddy. I had hit with my dear friend, director Prashanth Verma, before HanuMan. Zombie Reddy in 2019 was liked. Now it is the sequel to Zombie Reddy for me, with much better special effects than the first Zombie film. What success gives me is the power to make better, bigger films.”
Teja Sajja should be on top of the world. His Mirai has earned approximately Rs 14 crores on the first two days in the Telugu version alone.
As we speak on Saturday night, Teja is cautious in his excitement. “It’s nothing overwhelming or anything. I’m not feeling that overwhelmed or anything. I’m just calm. Everything went on smoothly is what I feel. I’m not able to feel anything. It’s been one and a half years since HanuMan. It hasn’t sunk in me yet. I’m still scared. I’m still worried about my future. You see, the second one, after the first blockbuster, is always more relevant and more important.”
Teja continues to live in his parents’ home. “I live with my Mom and Dad. I have an elder brother. He is married and lives away from us. My family has nothing to do with cinema. They’re very happy for me. Of course, they loved Mirai. My father was pointing out mistakes during the screening.”
So, is Teja single? “I am single, Sir. I am actually in relation with my work right now. Sir, it’s really, really, really difficult to be in a relationship when all you can think of is how to survive as an actor today. I’ve got that opportunity. I’m an outsider. I almost work 15 to 16 hours, irrespective of whether it’s release time or what I’m shooting or any point of time. Not that I don’t want to get into a relationship or have someone for me, but it’s because I don’t have that bandwidth right now or mind space. But yes, now that I am relatively more secure emotionally and financially, I am keeping my options (for a relationship) open.”
