‘Santosh’, a Hindi movie directed by the British-Indian filmmaker Sandhya Suri, has been selected as the UK’s official entry to Oscars 2025 in the international feature category. The movie premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. ‘Santosh’ has not been released in theatres or on OTT yet. 

The movie revolves around a young widow, who has to take her husband’s job as a police officer and takes up the case of a young girl’s murder. It stars Shahana Goswami in the titular role with Sunita Rajwar, Sanjay Bishnoi, Kushal Dubey, Nawal Shukla and Pratibha Awasthi in the pivotal roles.

Filmmaker Sandhya Suri is well known for her 2005 documentary movie ‘I for India’, which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. She then directed the critically acclaimed documentary movie ‘Around India with a Movie Camera’ and a short film ‘The Field’ in 2018.
