Rashmi Desai has been part of the entertainment industry for more than 24 years now. She entered the acting world during her teen years, when it’s difficult to differentiate between a good and a bad person. Today, when she looks back, the actor recalls several incidents where people tried to misuse her innocence. During a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rashmi shared, “Unfortunately, I have been subjected to the same and I have spoken time and again on many occasions about this. The internet is filled with articles on the same already.”
She added, “I remember I was called for an audition and when I went there, there was no one else except him. I was just 16 back then and he tried to get me unconscious. I was uncomfortable and somehow managed to come out from there and later, after a few hours, I told everything to my mother.”
Rashmi went to see the man again the next day, however, this time, she took her mother along. “I remember the next day, I went to meet him with my mother and my mother had slapped him to teach a lesson.”
Talking about the existence of casting couch and her experience of working in the industry for more than 2 decades despite all the negativity, she shared, “Casting couch is a real thing but then, every industry is about good and bad people. I am fortunate to have later worked with some fabulous people with whom I have had a good working experience. God has been kind.”
Other Shocking Revelation About Rashmi Desai
It’s not the first time that Rashmi has made such shocking revelations about her personal life. Earlier, during her stint in Bigg Boss 13, the actor spoke about her attempts to commit suicide. “I belong to a poor family, rather belonged to. I was often taunted for being a girl and my mom had to struggle a lot. ‘Kaha ladki paida ho gayi, bahut manhoos hai, iski wajah se paise kam hote hai.’ (Why did we have a girl? She is jinxed, we are short of money because of her.) Even my education was questioned and I began feeling that it was a crime to be a girl,” she shared.
A broken Rashmi then decided to end her life for good. “That is when I committed a mistake, I ate poison and called up my aunt to tell her. I did not know my worth, I just knew I am a girl and a burden on my family. I was admitted to a hospital and came out fine soon. Ever since, a lot of people tried to break me, irritate me but I never gave up,” she ended.
