Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, became a sensation in India after it was released in theatres again. However, amid the ongoing tensions between both the countries, Harshvardhan has ‘respectfully’ refused to do the sequel of the orignal cast is repeated. He further criticised Mawra’s comment on India after Operation Sindoor.
While declining working in Sanam Teri Kasam 2 is the original cast returns, Harshvardhan wrote, “While I am grateful for the experience however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated.”

Later, he slammed Mawra’s comments on India post Operation Sindoor and wrote, “I respect all artists and humans of this country, that country, Kenya and even Mars, but this kind of derogatory remarks about my country by anyone is unpardonable. Am okay with losing out on followers on Instagram, but won’t allow anyone to walk over the pride and upbringing. Standing by your country is good, but disrespectful, hate remarks about other country is not.”

The ongoing tension between Indian and Pakistan began with the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, that claimed the lives of 26 Indians. Later, on May 7, Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the terror attack and the situation was constantly monitored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi throughout the night, as per sources. Indian forces selected the targets with the intent of eliminating top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leaders involved in planning and executing terrorist attacks in India.
Mawra made her Bollywood debut with ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ in 2016. The movie also stars Anurag Sinha, Manish Chaudhari, Murli Sharma and Sudesh Berry. It was later released in theatres again a few months ago and commercial success.
