The ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise is all set to return with a television series with a brand new cast. The makers have announced a new cast with Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout as Harry, Hermione and Ron, respectively. John Lithgow will star as Albus Dumbledore, and his first look has surfaced on social media.
John can be seen on a beach and is sporting a long white beard. Fans have given mixed reactions to the new look. Some praised John Lithgow as Dumbledore, whereas, some fans called out the need of making a television series.

Other cast members have also been announced, but the makers have kept a mystery around Voldemort.

Dominic McLaughlin, who has been cast as the new Harry Potter, has worked on only a few projects. He will be seen in the comedy film ‘Grow’ alongside Nick Frost and Golda Rosheuvel. As per reports, Dominic will star in the BBC television adaptation of Marilyn Kaye’s novel ‘Gifted’. Arabella Stanton, who will play Hermione Granger, has worked in broadway. The Harry Potter series will be her first on-screen role. She has previously worked in the play ‘Maltilda The Musical’ and ‘Starlight Express’. Alastair Stout has been confirmed to play the role of Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter series. This will be his first acting project, and he has only appeared in a few advertisements.
Harry Potter series showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod issued a statement to announce the main cast. The statement read, “After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”
According to reports, more than 30,000 actors auditioned to be a part of the Harry Potter series. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson played the roles of Harry, Ron and Hermione, respectively, in the original film series.
