Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi have teamed up for the first time in the courtroom drama ‘Haq’. The movie is based on the 1985 Shah Bano case, which is considered a historic landmark case in the Indian judiciary system. The movie has been receiving a good response as the audience and critics praise the performances and the plot.
Haq Box Office Collection Day 1:
According to the website Sacnilk, ‘Haq’ collected Rs 1.65 crore on day 1.
The official synopsis of ‘Haq’ reads, “Shazia Bano takes her husband Abbas to court after he abandons her and their children, sparking a national battle over faith, women’s rights, and justice. Inspired by the landmark Supreme Court judgement of Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum. Haq is the story of one woman’s fight for her rights and justice.”

While speaking to News24, Yami Gautam talked about why she chose ‘Haq’. She shared, “Stories like Haq come to me at a time when I feel ready to take them on, and that’s not a coincidence. I let my instincts guide me. If a script challenges me, excites me, and has the potential to resonate deeply with people, I take that leap without overthinking. Being pushed outside my comfort zone is where meaningful transformation happens; that’s what keeps me artistically alive.”
She added, “Haq tapped into something that deeply resonates with me: a woman’s identity, her rights, her voice. Maybe these subjects chase me, too, because when you remain authentic to who you are and what you believe in, the right scripts just gravitate towards you. I will not term it a Shero saga, in all its sense, but a story that is generational in every sense for women and our country.”

The movie is directed by Suparn S Varma, written by Reshu Nath and produced by Vineet Jain, Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta and Harman Baweja.
