New Delhi: Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat is one of the bold and most talented actors. She is not only an Indian actress but also a model. At the same time, the actress is marking her 47th birthday today (October 24). On this occasion, here are some unknown and rare facts about the actress.
Mallika Sherawat’s real name
Mallika Sherwat was born as Reema Lamba to a Jat family. She did her schooling at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road. She completed her degree in philosophy from Miranda House, Delhi University.
Earlier in an Interview with a private channel, Mallika revealed the reason behind changing her name. She said, “I changed the name because the name Mallika is very nice to hear while Sherawat is my mother’s name. My mother always supported me so I added her name. I am a typical Jatt of Haryana. Reema was my identity yesterday which is very painful. I always feel proud to be from Haryana.”
Fight with family
When she began her career, she said that she came from a rural, conservative town family and that she had to overcome many barriers from her parents to follow her career. Her family rejected this and she made her own story. Reportedly, She married to pilot from Jet Airways.
Mallika Sherawat’s career
Mallika started her career with some TV commercials. First, she appeared with Amitabh Bachchan in BPL then with Shahrukh Khan for Santro. She also appeared in a music video for Nirmal Pandey and Surjit Bindrakhia. She made her Bollywood debut with the film ”Jeena Sirf Merre Liye.”
In 2003, she appeared in the film ‘Khwahish’ and in 2004, starrer in Murder, for this film she got a nomination for Best Actress at the Zee Cine Awards, which was one of the biggest hits of the year.
After one year in 2005, the actress appeared in the Chinese film, The Myth, with Jackie Chan. Later in 2006, she starrer in the film ‘Pyar ke side effects’ which managed rather at the box office.
Once, the actress charged Rs 15 million for a 10-minutes appearance in the Aap Ka Suroor – The Real Love Story. Later, she appeared in the film Welcome which was also a hit at the box office.
In 2008, she appeared in the two films Ugly aur Pagli and Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam which did not work well at the box office.
After one year, in 2009, the actress made her Hollywood debut in Hiss and later on, she also acted in another Hollywood comedy film Politics of Love.
