Singer Guru Randhawa, known for chartbusters like Lahore, High Rated Gabru and Suit Suit, is facing criticism over his latest track ‘Azul’. In the music video, he plays a photography teacher who likes a student, shown in a school uniform. Many people feel it wrongly sexualises schoolgirls and makes a teacher-student relationship look normal.
Amid the outrage, Guru broke his silence in a cryptic Instagram Story. He shared analytics of Azul, highlighting over 107,200 views in an hour and 27,000 YouTube searches, captioning it: “Azul is Azuling . When God is with you, you only move forward.” He didn’t directly respond to the criticism, but his post seemed to highlight the song’s success despite the backlash. He has also turned off comments on the video’s Instagram post.

Azul Controversy Explained:
Guru Randhawa received backlash for allegedly sexualising school girls in the music video of his song ‘Azul’. In the video, the singer is seen playing a photographer and clicking the girls for their class photo. Many netizens claimed that Guru Randhawa has objectified school girls in the video, promoting sexualising minors and harassment. Moreover, the lyrics of the song compared the woman’s beauty and charm to alcohol.
Sirra Controversy Explained:
‘Sirra’ is currently trending all over social media, with people grooving to its hook step. Amid the song’s popularity, it has landed in controversy due to the alleged defamation of the Jatt community. A local court has now summoned Guru Randhawa on September 2 after a complaint was filed against the alleged derogatory lyrics in ‘Sirra’. The complainant, Rajdeep Singh Mann, has raised objections to the line, “We are the sons of Jatts. We got opium as our first food when we were born.”
Apart from alleged defamation of the Jatt community, Mann argued that the lyrics also promote the drug culture. Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon Music, Instagram, Spotify India, Warner Music India and other streaming platforms have also been named in the complaint.
