New Delhi: On June 5 morning in Mumbai, Gufi Paintal, who was well remembered for his role as Shakuni Mama in B R Chopra’s Mahabharat, passed away suddenly. The actor will be cremated at Andheri in the afternoon. The 78-year-old actor was hospitalised for a few days because he was not feeling well.

Gufi Paintal passes away at 78

According to reports, the actor was admitted to the hospital on May 31. His family has not disclosed any information regarding his condition. Sadly, the actor died on June 5, which is devastating news.

Gufi’s nephew Hiten Paintal told indianexpress.com, “He passed away today around 9 am. He had a heart failure. He was 79 years old.”

Sarabjeet Singh Paintal served in the army before becoming an actor, while his brother, Amarjit Paintal, was already a Bollywood celebrity. He began his career as a casting director and progressed to work in films and television series. On Star Plus, his most recent show was Jai Kanhaiyya lal ki. Paintal rose to prominence in Mahabharat as Shakuni Mama. He has appeared in films such as Dillagi, Suhaag, and Maidaan-E-Jung. He has also appeared in various TV programmes, including Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein, Karmaphal Daata Shani, Karn Sangini, and RadhaKrishn.
