Govinda’s daughter Tina has been receiving backlash on the internet due to her recent comments on period pain. In an interview with Hautterfly, Tina shared that she never felt any period pain but her comment ‘only girls from Bombay speak about cramps’ angered the Reddit users.
In the video, Tina said, “I have stayed most of the time in Chandigarh, and I have heard only these girls from Bombay speak about cramps. Half of the problem comes from setting up these circles who are talking about the problem, and sometimes the ones who don’t get cramps also start to feel it psychologically. So many women in Punjab and other small cities don’t even realise when they undergo menopause.”
She further added, “Maybe my body is a little desi. I have never had any back pains. Everything is perfect, 28 days cycle. But, here I see girls always talking about… You eat your ghee, stop dieting so much; you have a good night’s sleep, and everything becomes normal. You have a good diet. Most of the girls diet so much looking at Instagram, listening to it, that problems which don’t even exist happen.”

Netizens found Tina’s comments insensitive and emphasised that every woman has a different experience during their menstruation cycle. One Reddit user wrote, “I see women with endometriosis daily in my clinic. It is a spectrum basically, there are some women who have no complaints at all, and some of them have so much pain during the menses that they cannot stand on their two feet. How people spread misinformation on such sensitive issues continues to baffle me.”

Another person wrote, “This is why education and women’s health education is important.” One netizen commented, “What has been desi got to do with period pain? Guys is period pain a Western propaganda? She seems like the type of girl who would say ‘I am not a feminist. I am an equalist.”
Tina is yet to react to this backlash.
