The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles is set to host a special screening of 12 iconic Indian films from March 7 to April 19, 2025. The series, titled Emotion in Colour: A Kaleidoscope of Indian Cinema, will showcase a curated selection of films that highlight the rich cultural and emotional depth of Indian cinema. This groundbreaking event marks the first time Indian cinema will be featured in such a comprehensive way at the renowned museum.

The screening series is curated by acclaimed filmmaker and preservationist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, the founding director of the Film Heritage Foundation, an organisation committed to preserving India’s cinematic history. The series explores the evolution of colour in Indian cinema, which has played a transformative role in enhancing visual storytelling and emotional impact.
Shivendra shares, “Color is deeply embedded in the fabric of our culture and cinema. This selection offers a rare opportunity to present the vast diversity of Indian films to an international audience.”
