Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed very year on 26th July to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1999. Having said that, our Bollywood has contributed greatly in the depiction of the life and the sacrifices of our war heroes through various films.

1. LOC Kargil (2003)

Directed by acclaimed film-maker JP Dutta, LOC Kargil starred Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherji, Raveena Tandon, Esha Deo, etc. The movie told the stories of the brave soldiers at Kargil and their struggle to defeat Pakistani troops during the war.

2. Lakshya (2004)

Featuring Hrithik Roshan, the film has been directed by Farhan Akhtar. The film does not directly refer to the Kargil war but narrate events from the war.

3. Mausam (2011)

The film features Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor in the leads. Directed by Pankaj Kapur, the film refers the war in key turns of events, although not directly.

4. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020)

Helmed by Sharan Sharma, the movie features Janhvi Kapoor, Angad Bedi, and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles. It depicted the life of Indian Air Force pilot, Gunjan Saxena, who became the first Indian female air-force pilots to fight a war, and she has a big hand in making India win the Kargil War.

5. Shershaah (2021)

Sidharth Malhotra’s blockbuster movie Shershaah is a tribute to the life of Captain ikram Batra who fought to his death against the Pakistani forces during the Kargil War. The film directed by Tamil film-maker Vishnuvardhan, also features Kiara Advani and has been produced by Dharma Productions.
