Satish Kaushik’s death: The phrase “Calendar khana do!” from the 1987 smash tune Mister India has a different fan base. In this Shekhar Kapur film, Anil Kapoor and Sridevi had the starring parts, but Satish Kaushik, who portrayed the cook Calendar, won everyone over. For the course of his more than three-decades-long career, Satish Kaushik was referred to as Calendar.
Kaushik proved that he can portray any character, whether they are black or white, thanks to his extreme versatility and his hunger for fantastic roles. Although comedy was his speciality, for his portrayal in Ram Lakhan, he went on to win his first Filmfare Award for Best Comedian. With movies like Saajan Chale Sasural (1996), Mr and Mrs Khiladi (1997), and Deewana Mastana (1998), Kaushik worked the most in the late 1990s (1997). He portrayed the legendary character of Pappu Pager in the latter, which is hailed as Kaushik’s most enduring performance following Calendar.

Satish Kaushik demonstrated after performing humour that he is equally adept in serious parts as he is in comedic ones. His performance in Calcutta Mail (2003) received favourable reviews. In addition to acting, he was well-known as a respected director. Tere Naam, starring Salman Khan, was his biggest hit. Strangely enough, he also produced one of Bollywood’s worst flops, the incredibly expensive Roop ki Rani Choron ka Raja from 1993.
The 2023 movie Chhatriwali, starring Rakul Preet, was Satish Kaushik’s final.
