The 70th Filmfare Awards lit up Ahmedabad’s EKA Arena, Kankaria Lake, on Saturday night, October 11, 2025, celebrating the year’s finest achievements in Hindi cinema. The evening, hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Maniesh Paul, featured electrifying performances by Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Kriti Sanon, and several others.
It was a historic night for Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, which dominated the ceremony with 13 wins, including Best Film and Best Director, tying Gully Boy’s all time record. The film also swept through categories like Best Screenplay, Best Dialogue, Best Lyrics, and Best Background Score, reaffirming its status as the year’s most celebrated cinematic gem.
In the acting categories, Abhishek Bachchan (I Want To Talk) and Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion) shared the Best Actor award, while Alia Bhatt won Best Actress for Jigra. The Critics’ Choice Awards went to Rajkummar Rao (Srikanth) and Pratibha Ranta (Laapataa Ladies) for their remarkable performances.
