Filmfare 2023: Bhumi Pednekar and Rajkummar Rao, who played the film’s major actors, exchanged lengthy notes following Badhaai Do’s significant win at the 68th Filmfare Awards. 

For Unawares, the film won Best Film (Critics’), Best Actor in a Leading Role for Rajkummar Rao, Best Actress (Critics’) for Bhumi Pednekar (she shared the award with Tabu for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2), Best Screenplay Award for Akshat Ghildial, Suman Adhikary and Harshavardhan Kulkarni, Best Supporting Role for Sheeba Chaddha and Best Story for Akshat Ghildial and Suman Adhikary.

Filmfare 2023: Bhumi Pednekar’s extensive note

After winning the award, Actress Bhumi Pednekar shared a series of photos and wrote a beautiful note. She wrote, “My third one. Badhaai Do will be etched in my heart forever. Filmfare Awards 2023. Thank you God, my family, friends, all my film makers and my audience. 6 wins last night on a popular platform, shows things are changing and for the better. There couldn’t have been a better time than now to celebrate Badhaai Do. We stand tall with our queer friends with the hope that our film contributed into making this world a fair and equal place for all. Jo bhi ho, Love is love.”

Actor Rajkummar Rao also shared a series of photos with the award and wrote, “Won the Best Actor Popular Award last night at the 68th Filmfare Awards 2023 for Badhaai Do. Thank you God. This one is very very special. My 4th black lady and this wouldn’t have been possible without you my love Patralekhaa who always pushes and encourages me to do good work. Thank you love for always being there. Thank you my most beautiful family both in Gurgaon and Shillong. Big thanks to you guys, our audience for giving so much love to our Badhaai Do. I love you guys.”

About Badhaai Do

In the film Badhaai Do, Rajkummar Rao played a gay police officer, and Bhumi Pednekar, who is dating another woman, told their respective stories. To avoid pressure from their families and keep seeing the people they genuinely like, Rajkummar and Bhumi decide to get married and live as flatmates. Bhumi Pednekar’s girlfriend Rimjim was portrayed in the movie by Chum Darang, and Rajkummar Rao’s companion Gulshan Devaiah had a brief appearance.
