Exclusive | Vivek Agnihotri Calls Rajat Poddar’s Demise ‘A Personal Loss’: ‘He Was The Happiest Man’

Rajat Poddar, a renowned production designer and art director in the Indian film industry, passed away on September 27. This is a big loss for Indian cinema and several celebrities expressed their grief on his untimely demise. While speaking to News24 exclusively, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who was working with Rajat Poddar in ‘The Delhi Files’, says that ‘it is a personal loss’ for him. 

Recalling his last interaction with Rajat Poddar, Vivek Agnihotri tells us, “We were talking till 8 last night and also doing Zoom calls. Just a few hours after that I got to know he is no more.”

He adds, “He (Rajat Poddar) was the happiest person I ever met and you won’t have to do anything but love him. He was somebody who would never sit alone and would always agree to whatever was asked of him. It’s difficult to find such wonderful people in life.”

Further talking about Poddar’s health, the filmmaker shares that he was “healthy and fit guy.”

‘The Kashmir Files’ director also shares Rajat Poddar was excited about showing ‘The Delhi Files’ to everyone. He says, “He was so looking forward to work on this project and was building a huge set for it. For me, it’s a personal loss and also to the industry because he was one of the most creative production designer.”

Vivek Agnihotri also expressed his grief over Rajat Poddar’s passing on X. He wrote, “My friend, brother and one of the best & the biggest production designer Rajat Poddar is no more with us. An absolutely healthy, always-happy, no stress guy Rajat had a cardiac arrest at night in London. I don’t know how can I ever make #TheDelhiFiles without you? ॐ शांति Rajat।”

Rajat Poddar has worked as a production designer in several hit movies like ‘Fighter’, ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’, ‘Pathaan’, ‘War’, ‘Baaghi’, ‘Aashiqui 2′, ”Barfi’ and ‘Life In A Metro’, among others. He also worked in the upcoming movie ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’.
