“Finally! He should have got it long ago. I think he deserved the National Award for Devdas. As a co-actor, I felt happy to see him excel in that role. Dilip Kumar saab, who had played Devdas earlier, had appreciated Shah Rukh’s performance. He used to fondly say if he had son, he would have been like Shah Rukh,” reveals Shatrughan Sinha.

About not winning the National award, Shatrughan Sinha says, “The love of the people is award enough. Many felt I deserved the National award for my performance in Gautam Ghose’s Antarjali Yatra. It got the National award for best film. But not for me. There will always be space for debate and argument for the awards. The important thing is, to celebrate our Shah Rukh’s triumph. His popularity and craze are unparalleled. And he grows more popular with every passing year. The entire industry, in fact the entire country, is proud of him.”
