Honey Singh: During an interview recently, singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh talked about the hit Punjabi song Lamberghini and mention that despite the song’s popularity, he does not know its singer’s name. The interview video prompted the voice behind the hit song, Ragini Tandan to make a reel, expressing disappointment.
Within no time, the reel went viral and caught attention of the rapper himself. He took to the comment section to apologise and wrote, “Now i know u !! M sorry for not knowing ur name even after that huge lambo success but its all industry fault not urs anyways keep rising n shine bright.”
Now, in an exclusive conversation with News24, Ragini Tandan shares about the viral reel and apology from the man she has admired all her life. “It takes a lot of courage to apologize publicaly and I commend him for doing that. Though it was very sweet of him to apologize, I was not upset with him. That’s why I made a funny reel. He was talking in very generic terms about the industry and what happens here, and he is absolutely right. I know so many artiste who are just working tirelessly, waiting for the audience to recognize them but they don’t get their due credit and acknowledgement.”

Looking back at how this has been a long persistent issue, Ragini shares, “4 years after the song was released, nobody knew that I was the singer. My face is not seen anywhere in the video. In fact, the song’s credits do not even mention my full name. It just reads Lamberghini by Ragini. It was my first song and we were quite unaware of these things.
Despite giving a track that garnered 500-600 million views, Ragini recalls how she was still struggling for years. “It was very upsetting the first two years. I was meeting everyone but kuch bada nahi ho raha tha life me. I was struggling,” she says, and adds, “But har artiste karta hai struggle. It’s been 6 years since Lamberghini released and during these years and I worked on several different songs. I tried to remain very patient during this time. I kept on making my music, waiting for the audience to find me.”
And it seems like the audience have finally found this beautiful voice and is showering appreciations. “I am getting so many comments and messages from people. They are liking my work. This reel has also opened gates for a few more collaborations with bigger artistes. The rap zone is contacting me for good work. Hopefully, I hope I can collaborate with Honey Singh also someday,” she wraps up.
