Nawazuddin Sidddiqui’s long-awaited revenge drama-film Haddi premiered on Zee5 on September 7. Helmed by Akshat Ajay Sharma, the flick immerses itself in a complex narrative of vengeance. Nawazuddin’s character, a transwoman, takes revenge from Ila Arun, who plays the role of Amma in the film.
In an interview with News24, Ila Arun shared her experiences of her venture. On being asked whether she has worked with real transgender people and her experience with them, she responded, “It was my first such close association with transgender people. First and foremost, I was so happy and emotionally touched when I realized how much they love me.” While sharing her heartfelt experience she told that portal that they sang “at least two or three songs – ‘Holiya Mein Ude Re Gulal’, ‘Resham ka Rumaal’” for her. “They told me that they perform these songs, and they danced for me, even pulling me to dance with them,” she added. Owing to the moments that she shared with them Ila said, “I became a part of their community.”
On being asked about her learnings while working with the transgenders, Ila highlighted that they have accepted the way they were born and want to fight for their rights. “They have their unions and leaders or motivators just like any other human being. So now, they don’t hesitate to believe in themselves,” the actress asserted.

Furthermore, the actress revealed the harsh reality of how people that are not transgender dress up like them and ask people for money. “I found out that there is a lot of wreckage. Many people are not transgender, but they dress up like them. These unemployed youth or alcoholic individuals dress up as transgender and stand at signals, asking for money and help without wanting to work. On the contrary, transgender individuals want to work. Some of them are actors, some are engineers – they are diverse in their professions. They are genuinely nice people, and it was an enlightening experience to gain insight into their lives,” she said.
Meanwhile, besides Ila and Nawazuddin, the hard-hitting noir revenge drama also features Anurag Kashyap, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Saurabh Sachdeva, Shridhar Dubey, among others in pivotal roles.
