Netflix’s ‘Adolescences’ became a sensation due to its unique writing, direction and impeccable performances. The series focuses on a family whose life takes a drastic turn after their 13-year-old Jamie Miller is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl. Owen Cooper, who played the role of Jamie Miller, has won the Emmy Award 2025 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Who Is Owen Cooper?
Owen Cooper has become the youngest male actor to win an Emmy. Born in Warrington, England, ‘Adolescence’ was Cooper’s first-ever acting project. He gained interest in acting after getting lessons with The Drama Mob, a drama school co-created by Coronation Street actress Tina O’Brien and Esther Morgan. After ‘Adolescence’, he is set to appear in the movie ‘Wuthering Heights’ and in the BBC series ‘Film Club’.
Before Emmy, he won the Gotham TV award for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Limited Series. Apart from being the youngest male actor to win an Emmy, he is also the youngest actor to ever be nominated in the category.
While winning the award, Owen said in his speech, “Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple years back, I didn’t expect to be in the United States, never mind here, but I think tonight proves that if you listen and you focus and you step out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life. I was nothing about three years ago and I’m here now. Who cares if you get embarrassed? Anything can be possible.”

In an earlier interview, the creators of ‘Adolescence’ talked about the possibility of making a second season. But yeah, there’s the possibility of developing another story.”
Directed by Philip Barantini, Adolescence is co-created and written by Graham and Jack Thorne. The show has been shot in a single take.
