Popular rapper Bilal Shaikh, best known by his stage name Emiway Bantai, was earlier in the headlines after he allegedly received a death threat from Goldy Brar. In the new development to this case, a 19-year-old BCom student from Assam has been arrested for allegedly sending him a death threat with a ransom demand of ₹1 crore.
The accused has been identified as Arulv Rameshkumar Alohi, who identified himself as gangster Goldy Brar in the threat message. According to Hindustan Times, an officer from the NRI Coastal police station, “While the arrest has been made, we are probing whether the accused acted independently or was following instructions from a larger network.”
For the unversed, Goldy Brar is the close associate of another gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who was allegedly involved in the murder of politician Baba Siddiqui and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. “I am gangster Goldy Brar. Your singer has 24 hours. I want Rs 1 crore or else I will kill him,” the message stated. The threat also mentioned the name of Rohit Godara, who is based in the US and is another close associate of the gangster, police said.
The threat came after Emiway Bantai released a tribute to Sidhu Moosewala on May 26. According to the police, the threat message was sent from the Sonitpur district of Assam. The accused was later brought to Navi Mumbai for questioning.
After releasing the track, Emiway said, “Sidhu Moosewala was more than just a singer, he was a movement. His voice, message, and spirit still inspire me and many others every day. My song ‘Tribute to Sidhu Moosewala’ is a way to show love and respect to someone who changed the music scene in his own unique way. Sidhu and I had even talked about working together, and we both wanted it. This tribute is my way of keeping that dream alive.”
Sidhu Moosewala was killed on May 29, 2022. He was shot while sitting in his car in Jawaharke village, Mansa district.
