On the second day of its second week, Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency experienced a notable boost in box office earnings after several days of underperformance. The film earned Rs. 85 lakhs (India net) on its ninth day, as per early estimates from trade tracker Sacnilk.com.
Emergency’s Total Earnings Increased
With the Rs. 85 lakh earned on Saturday, Emergency’s total earnings now stand at Rs. 15.55 crore (India net). On the same day, the film recorded a relatively modest 17.89 percent Hindi occupancy at theatres.
After a sharp decline in earnings over the past few days, Emergency is showing signs of recovery. On Thursday, the film’s earnings dropped to Rs. 90 lakhs, marking its lowest collection since the opening, and on Friday, the movie earned just Rs. 40 lakhs, according to Sacnilk.com.
Comparison With Previous Biopic: ‘Thalaivii’
When compared to her earlier biopic, Thalaivii- which focused on the life of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa- Emergency has performed significantly better so far. Thalaivii had earned Rs. 7.28 crore in total, which is considerably lower than Emergency’s current box office collection.
Contrasting Claims About Box Office Earnings
While Sacnilk.com reported a total of Rs. 15.55 crore, the production house, Manikarnika Films, took to X to claim that Emergency had earned Rs. 16.61 crore at the box office.
