Netflix has dropped a major surprise for content creator Elvish Yadav and comedian Munawar Faruqui’s fans. A video summing up the fabulous year for the streaming giant showcases recreated glimpses of the most viral OTT projects. It features Elvish Yadav, Munawar Faruqui, Taapsee Pannu, Aditi Rao Hydari, Zayed Khan, Shalini Passi, Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastav, Naman Arora, and Mayur More, among many others.
The Viral Song
The video features a song by Fabulous Lives vs. Bollywood Wives fame Shalini Passi and Darshan Magdum. Alongside the fun video, Netflix wrote, “Systumm hil gaya na? 2024 mein crossovers dekhna acchi baat hai, lekin iss video ko like nahi kiya toh Wi-Fi kyu lagvaya hai?”
Many took to the comment section to express surprise at the collaboration, while others seem excited to see them together in a project. “As a neutral both elvish and munawar are best at roasting, funny talks ,reply , sarcasm ❤loved to watch them together,” wrote one. Another commented, “Insane ….elvish on netflix ❤❤❤….wao its soo shocking bro ❤”. Other comments read, “Elvish Munawar Duo Unstoppable”, “UNEXPECTED ELVISH AND MUNAWAR TABAHI”, “Omg elvish expressions are so damn accurate ❤🎉loved it” , “Ab Netflix Ki Subscription Leni Padegi.”
However, it is unclear whether the two are indeed collaborating for an upcoming project or if it was just a marketing technique by Netflix to catch people’s attention. For the unversed, the collaboration was a huge deal because both internet sensations have had differences due to their religious beliefs, leading to them taking digs at each other. The clash grew stronger over the years, with their fans becoming very serious about it.
Elvish-Munawar Controversy
In fact, things turned bad when a selfie of Elvish and Munawar went viral, and Elvish was questioned about his Hinduism. It happened during a charity match where both played with other popular names, such as Sachin Tendulkar, Akshay Kumar, and Kunal Khemu, among others. The photo of them hugging each other offended their fans.
Later, Elvish issued an apology video to clarify that he did not want to pick a fight with Munawar in public. He also shared that he received death threats and was asked to prove that he is a true Hindu. In the video, he said, “Aap logo ne bola Elvish bhai ne galat kiya, hum maante hai maine galat kara. Apne Hindu dharam ke upar, apne Sanatan dharam ke upar hazaro Munawar Faruqui kurbaan hai. Usko main consider nahi karta apna dost ya bhai. On camera bol raha hu, mere liye mera dharam sabse upar hai.”
