“A statement from my podcast is being taken out of context and presented in a misleading way. There was never any intention to target or insult anyone. I have always believed in respect and inclusivity, and those who know me understand that I have nothing but love for everyone,” he wrote.

Further defending himself, Elvish called the allegations of racism “false” and expressed disappointment over how the situation is being escalated.

“It’s unfortunate that a false narrative is being created, completely misrepresenting my words. This whole issue is based on false allegations of racism, which is simply not true,” he added.

To avoid further controversy, he revealed that the statement had been removed from the podcast. He also mentioned addressing the matter in his upcoming vlog. “I have always stood for positivity and inclusivity and will continue to do so,” he concluded.

The Comment That Sparked Outrage

The controversy began when a clip from Elvish’s podcast surfaced on Reddit. In the video, he was seen mocking Chum Darang’s name and making offensive remarks about her as a potential love interest for Karan Veer Mehra.

He allegedly said, “Karanveer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai! Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai… Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mein kiya hai.”

These remarks were widely called out by netizens, who criticised him for making racially insensitive and disrespectful comments. Chum Darang’s supporters have also defended her, calling out the casual racism in Elvish’s statements.
