Hence, us playing in that exact spot was planned out beforehand. It wasn’t just us randomly turning up. All good though. See you at the show tonight x.”
This clarification put an end to rumours that the performance was unplanned or disrupted by authorities.

Despite Sheeran’s clarification, Bengaluru police had earlier stated that no permission was granted for the performance. A viral video from the incident captures Sheeran starting to sing Shape of You before officers intervened, disconnecting the cables and halting the show.
