ED Raids ‘L2: Empuraan’ Producer In Chennai Amid Rising Controversy Over Mohanlal’s Film

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided L2: Empuraan producer Gokulam Gopalan’s Chennai properties over alleged FEMA violations.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raid at the Chennai properties of Gokulam Gopalan, one of the producers of recently released controversial film L2: Empuraan. The raids are part of a larger multi-state operation in Tamil Nadu and Kerala over alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

ED Investigates FEMA Violations

Gokulam’s company, Sree Gopalan Chit and Finance Co. Ltd which operates in various sectors including hospitality, media, healthcare, education and logistics is under scrutiny for alleged FEMA violations involving NRI people. The ED is also investigating separate cases of alleged cheating and forgery linked to the company under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act .

L2: Empuraan Faces Political Controversy

The ED raids come at a time when L2: Empuraan is already facing backlash from a particular section of the audience for allegedly portraying politics in a negative light. The controversy excalted much that now the film is facing 17 as told by CBFC. There are also reports that the name of the villain will also be changed to ‘Baba Bajrangi’.

Mohanlal Reacts to the Backlash

Mohanlal addressing the ongoing controversy issued a statement expressing his regret over the situation. In support of this ,the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) also released a statement condemning personal attacks and threats against the film’s cast and crew. “We welcome constructive criticism, but it should not turn into personal attacks or political branding,” FEFKA stated.

Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, L2: Empuraan is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. The film features a talented cast, including Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

As both the ED investigation and the film’s controversy unfold, all eyes remain on L2: Empuraan and its future developments.
