Navin Singh Bhardwaj, Dream Girl-2 Review: We often find posters of our favourite celebrities in our homes. People display these posters as a reflection of their admiration, followed by the aspirations that one day they cross paths with stars like Aishwarya Rai or Katrina Kaif. Now, after four years, director Raaj Shandilya has brought these reveries to the big screen.
“Hello, Main Pooja Bol Rahi Hoon” This time you are going to meet not only this voice but the entire Pooja, after 4 years of Dream Girl 1 Pooja is back on the big screen again in Dream Girl 2, and It will not be wrong to say that in this film Ayushmann Khurrana has completely got into the character of Pooja.
Story
The story depicts a boy from Agra, Karam Kumar (Ayushmann Khurrana), who since childhood used to save his friends by taking out the voices of girls and sometimes used to sing or dance in Ramlila and Jagrata. Karam’s father Jagjit (Annu Kapoor) has many loans to repay. This story might ring familiar, and rightfully so, as director Raj has ingeniously intertwined the backdrop story of Karam with the characters from his earlier film.
The tale of Karam and Pari (portrayed by Ananya Pandey) is unveiled right from the outset of the film, during a Jagrata ceremony. As the story unfolds, Pari’s father, Jaipal Srivastava (played by Manoj Joshi), becomes privy to Karam’s family background. In light of this revelation, he extends a time frame of six months to Karam, stipulating the need to amass Rs 20-30 lakhs. Successfully meeting this condition is the sole determinant for Karam to earn the privilege of marrying Pari.
Despite giving several interviews, Karam failed to a job. To tackle the unemployment situation, Karam’s friend Smiley (Manjot Singh) suggested him to dance in Bar in guise of girl ‘Pooja’. Meanwhile, Pooja meets the family of Abu Salim (Paresh Rawal). Among these four lovers, one Sona Bhai (Vijay Raaz), Mohd Shahrukh (Abhishek Banerjee), credit card sales man Tiger Pandey (Ranjan Raj) and Mohd Shahrukh’s step-elder elder brother Shaukiya (Rajpal Yadav). How does Karam save himself from all these troubles? And to know what social message is given at the end of the film, you will have to watch the film.
Direction & Writing:
Raaj Shaandilyaa is back once again with Ayushmann Khurrana and his dream girl Pooja. This time writer Naresh Kathuria is supporting Raj in the film. Like last time, Raj has left no stone unturned to make the story of the film strong. Raj has tried to make the film stronger by casting strong, yes in the film you are going to laugh out loud but at some places you will be seen jumping in the shots of the film and at some places the forceful one liners bore you. Will do too. Like Ayushman being thrown out of the house wearing a burqa and suddenly walking outside in shirt pants, Ananya getting married suddenly. In a way, even after having two writers in the film, they could not make the climax of the film that much interesting.
Acting:
Like every time, this time too Ayushmann Khurrana managed to win hearts. Last year, many of Ayushmann’s films could not perform that well at the box office, but through Dream Girl 2, now it seems that Ayushmann’s car will start running once again. Ayushmann has once again given a social message at the end of the film with comedy. Annu Kapoor, who plays Karam’s father as Jagjit, also never disappoints his character with his acting. With perfect comedy leaves a smile on your face. Yes, after watching the film, you will definitely feel that the actress of the film is not Ananya Pandey but Pooja. Ananya has a lot to do in the film and after watching the film you will appreciate Bhai Ye Ehsaan Hoga Ki Zyada Nahi Tha Wahi Better Tha, Manjot Singh who plays Karam’s friend also fails to impress. Despite casting so many strong actors in the film, Raj has not given enough screen space to many actors like Manoj Joshi, Rajpal Yadav. Everyone’s acting in the same film was superb, be it Paresh Rawal or Seema Pava or Vijay Raaz; All the characters had their comedy timing tight. Which makes the film great.
Music:
After Dream Girl 1, Dream Girl 2 Garka Music is also given by Meet Bros. This time Tanish Bagchi is supporting Meet Bros. The main song of the film ‘Mere Dil Ka Telephone’ has been remixed and brought back. Seeing Ayushmann’s expression and look in this song, your heart will fall on him. The background music of the film helps to keep you hooked to the film.
Kyun Dekhen and Kyun Na Dekhen have been directed by Raaj Shandilya, who has written several episodes of Comedy Circus and Comedy Nights with Kapil. This time Naresh Kathuria has supported Raj. The strong actors in the film and their sense of comedy keep you glued to the film. You will get to see great dialogues, one-liners, emotion, and romance. Initially, the film picks up pace and then slows down after the interval, the climax of the film may bore you.
