He further shared that the decision to retire after making 12 albums was not sudden as he is inspired by legends like the Beatles and Bob Marley. The Coldplay Frontier said, “We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that’s real. Having that limit means the quality control is so high right now and for a song to make it, it’s almost impossible, which is great. And so where we could be coasting, we’re trying to improve.”

“There’s only seven Harry Potters. There’s only 12 ½ Beatles’ albums, there’s about the same for Bob Marley, so all our heroes,” he added.

Coldplay is currently on its ‘Music of the Spheres’ World Tour and will perform in India on January 18, 19 and 21. The band performed in Mumbai at the Global Citizens India in 2016 with several celebrities attending it. The members even shot the music video for their song ‘Hymn Of The Weekend’ in Mumbai’ featuring Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor.

The group made their debut with the album ‘Parachutes’ in 2000 and rose to fame with the album’s song ‘Yellow’.

The group was formed in 1997 and was earlier called ‘Big Fat Noises’ and ‘Starfish’. Their popular songs include Yellow, Clocks, Fix You, Paradise, Viva La Vida, A Sky Full Of Stars, Hymn For The Weekend, Adventure Of A Lifetime and Orphans, among others.
