Disha Salian, who reportedly died by suicide in 2020, is back in the spotlight, prompting the state government to form a special investigation team for a thorough inquiry.
The appointment of a DIG rank officer as the head of the newly formed special investigation team marks a significant development in the ongoing scrutiny of Disha Salian’s death. Notably, Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis had previously initiated an SIT investigation during the last winter session.
Several MLAs had previously urged the government for an SIT investigation, reflecting a broader call for thorough scrutiny. Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian when approached about the SIT investigation into her death, responded by expressing that some individuals are falsely attributing statements to him, alleging that he had claimed his daughter was murdered. He said “This is wrong, I never claimed that my daughter was murdered. She accidentally fell because of which she died. Disha did not commit suicide nor did anyone murder her. However, police are investigating this matter, so I cannot say much,” This adds a layer of complexity to the narrative surrounding Disha Salian’s tragic incident.
Disha reportedly died after falling from the 14th floor of a building, around 2am on the intervening night of June 8 and 9, 2020. Five days after the incident, on June 14, 2020, actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his home. Since then, there has been much speculation over both these deaths.
