In a shocking incident, unidentified men on a bike fired shots outside Bollywood actor Disha Patani’s house in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area early Friday morning. Police confirmed that around 8-10 rounds were fired at the house of her father, retired police officer Jagdish Patani. Security forces were deployed at the spot after the incident and an FIR was lodged at the Kotwali police station.
“We received information about the firing at retired CO Jagdish Patani’s residence by two unidentified motorbike-borne assailants. Police teams were immediately sent to the site. An FIR has been registered at the Kotwali police station under various sections. Armed police personnel have been deployed for the protection of the family members,” SSP Bareilly, Anurag Arya, said.
Breaking his silence after the attack, Jagdish Patani described the incident as terrifying and revealed that the gunshots were foreign made. He added that he had seen reports on social media about gangster Goldy Brar claiming responsibility, but said nothing had been officially confirmed yet.
Speaking to ANI, Jagdish Patani stated,”…Two unidentified assailants fired at my residence…Police are making all possible efforts…Bareilly Police, SSP, and ADG are all working on it…The gunshots are not indigenous; they are foreign-made…I think 8-10 rounds were fired…I came to know through social media that Goldy Brar has taken its responsibility, but it is not clear yet.”
He also clarified that Khushboo’s remarks had been “misrepresented” and wrongly associated with spiritual leader Premanand Ji Maharaj, stressing that the family deeply respects saints and sadhus.
“Khushboo was misrepresented. Her name was dragged into the matter of Premanand Ji Maharaj. We are Sanatanis, and we respect the sadhus and saints. If someone is misrepresenting her statement, it is a conspiracy to demean us,” he stated.
For the unversed, Khushboo Patani, criticised religious leader Aniruddhacharya Maharaj for his remarks on live-in relationships. However, many online users mistakenly thought her comments were aimed at Premanand Ji Maharaj, which led to confusion and outrage.
Khushboo’s anger was directed at a video where Aniruddhacharya Maharaj was allegedly heard saying, “Ladke laate hain 25 saal ki ladkiyon ko, jo 4-5 jagah mooh maar ke aati hain.” In response to that statement, Khushboo wrote, “Agar ye mere saamne hota, to main isko samjha deti ki mooh maarna kya hota hai. These are anti-nationalists. You should not be supporting such bastards of the highest order.”
Khushboo later clarified her comments, denies targeting Premanand Ji Maharaj, and issues legal warnings against misinformation.
