Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh, who is currently underway his Dil-Luminati tour across the length and breadth of India is set to perform in Hyderabad today ( November 15) at GMR Arena on Airport Approach Road at 7 in the evening. Ahead of his concert, the Telangana government issued a notice demanding Dosanjh to desist from singing songs that contain themes like alcohol, drugs, or violence also imposing restrictions on the performance including disallowing children to be present on stage. The Telangana government also expressed apprehensions that loud sounds and blinking lights could cause discomfort to children attending the event.
The notice was issued by the District Welfare Officer in the Department of Welfare of Women and Children, Disabled & Senior Citizens, Rangareddy District on November 7th. The action was taken after Chandigarh-based professor Panditrao Dharenavar lodged a complaint coupled with a video clip of Dosanjh’s performance on October 26 and 27 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, where he allegedly performed songs with such content.
Avinash Mohanty, Commissioner of Cyberabad Police, confirmed police deployment for traffic and crowd control as well as security at the event. “We expect 20,000 to more people attending the show, but no specific curbs have been placed on the event by local law enforcement,” he clarified.
