Diljit Dosanjh Says He Ran Away From Home When He Was 7
In an interview on Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out podcast, Diljit Dosanjh recounted a time when he thought the world was ending. He shared, “There was a girl in school, but I didn’t try to run away because of her. The older boys at school asked me which girl I liked, so I said, ‘I like this girl.’ They told me to go and tell her that we would get married. I casually went up to the girl and told her we were going to get married, and she informed the teacher. The teacher then told me to bring my parents the next day.”
“I felt like the world was ending, and I was done for,” Diljit Dosanjh recounted. “At that point, it felt like life was over. I opened the fridge, took out two bananas and some other fruit, grabbed my bicycle, and left. For the first time, I went beyond the end of our village and rode for about 5 minutes. One of the villagers saw me and said, ‘Turn around and go back.’ He probably wondered where I was going. Whatever came to his mind, I turned back and went home. I remember that one time I tried to run away.”
