D Gukesh’s victory is a milestone in Indian chess. At 18, he surpassed Garry Kasparov’s record, who became the youngest world champion at 22 in 1985. Gukesh dethroned the reigning champion, marking a new era in the sport. The young prodigy attributed his success to hard work and guidance from his mentor, Viswanathan Anand, at the chess academy in Chennai.
