Bollywood star Sonakshi Sinha recently shared insights into her strict upbringing, revealing that she had a curfew at home until the age of 32. In a candid conversation, she spoke about how her mother closely monitored her late-night outings and how these rules shaped her over the years.
Speaking to Hautterfly, Sonakshi recalled that even after she started working, her curfew remained unchanged. “I had a curfew of 1:30 AM till I was 32. Zaheer (Iqbal) had the biggest issue with it. Every time I broke the curfew, it was because of him, and then I would get scolded for it,” she revealed.
A Home That Was Impossible To Sneak Into
Sonakshi described her residence as a ‘fortress’ that made late-night returns difficult. “I lived on the 10th floor of Ramayana, while my parents stayed on the fifth. Our telephone operator, Mr. Jha, was very efficient. The moment my car entered the premises, he would inform my parents, ‘Baby has arrived.’ I even tried asking my man Friday to stop him from calling, but it never worked,” she said.

Her mother, Poonam Sinha, always ensured she followed the rules. “If Jha didn’t call, I’d lie. But like any household, my parents would start calling from midnight, asking where I was. Mom would scold me, saying it didn’t look good. She would frame it around my father, saying, ‘What will he think?’ or threaten to tell him. But honestly, my dad is the chillest person- he has never scolded me.”
Bridging The Generation Gap
While Sonakshi’s mother raised her with strict discipline, she now helps her understand the mindset of the younger generation. “My mum grew up in an environment where back-answering was not allowed, and she wanted to pass that down. But times have changed, and now there are many things I teach her as well,” she explained.
On the professional front, Sonakshi has multiple web series in the pipeline. She is also set to appear in the South Indian film Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
