Dhurandhar has been receiving an amazing response in India and has been making waves overseas as well. Amid all the love and praise, the movie has reportedly been banned in six nations. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, ‘Dhurandhar’ did not release in the Gulf territory.
Countries that banned Dhurandhar and why:
As per reports, Dhurandhar has been banned in six Gulf countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The makers reportedly tried to release the film in these nations but did not get clearance due to its sensitive topic and anti-Pakistan theme. A source was quoted as saying by Bollywood Hungama, “There were apprehensions that this would happen as the film is perceived as an ‘anti-Pakistan film’. The team still made an attempt, but none of the countries approved the film’s theme. That’s why Dhurandhar hasn’t been released in any Gulf territory.”
Earlier, movies like Article 370, Tiger 3, Fighter, Sky Force, The Kashmir Files, The Diplomat and some others faced a ban. The ban on Dhurandhar in Gulf nations is a big setback for the film as these countries are a huge market for Indian cinema. Despite these setbacks, the movie has already crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in India.
